Jack Lackman

Jack Lackman is a junior from Wausau, Wisconsin, majoring in Business Administration. He has been skiing for as long as he can remember and competed with Wausau United through high school, including appearances at Junior Nationals and Canadian Nationals during his junior and senior years. Jack joined the CMU cross country ski team as a freshman and placed 10th in the 15K classic at Collegiate Nationals. He values the team not only for the training and racing, but also for the close relationships and support that have made CMU feel like a family away from home.

Jack races skate, classic, sprint, distance, and biathlon events. He is also an accomplished endurance athlete outside of skiing, including running 100 miles in the Wausau Backyard Ultra and winning the Wausau 24 Solo mountain bike race after completing approximately 245 miles. This season, his goals are to contend for a podium at Nationals, establish himself among the top athletes in the conference, and continue being a positive and supportive teammate.

Jack credits several people with helping shape him as an athlete, including his longtime coaches, Coach Kresse, Mrs. Kresse, and Coach Ernie, as well as his sister, Lauren, and his parents. Lauren, who competed for both the CMU cycling and cross country ski teams, helped introduce Jack to CMU and encouraged him to take the leap from Wisconsin to Colorado.
